My brother is 24 years ancient, and he really wants to get laser surgery. It costs about $400 CAN per eye. But, I’ve been examination that it doesn’t make sense since your eye sight at that age is still yet to worsen. Are there any links or experienced ppl that can give me advice to deter him from considering it? Thanks.

I had it done after going to a lot of uncommon places and reading a lot about the procedure. There is uncommon versions of the same procedure as well uncommon procedures and uncommon technology out there.
I choose TLC in Toronto. They were much, much more expensive than $400 CND per eye but their technology was more advanced and was the best fit for my needs. Strong prescription (-7 per eye), astigmatism, large pupils, one pupil that is slightly large than the additional due to a sports injury, I had a lot going on with my eyes that made it far from routine.
Anyhow, for me the end result was incredible, life changing. I’m so glad I did it. I’d strongly recommend it for anyone who’s eyes are terrible enough to warrant the slight risk and expense. But you really do need to research who does it.
Specifically about risk – In the lobby of TLC offices they had a book with all the stats. Chances of this, chances of that and the facts were all really excellent. Everyone doable terrible occurrence had really insignificant risk. It was always facts like 1 in 100,000, 1 in 55,000 etc. and I also recall that each doable pitfall had TLC rate of complications beside it and in every case it was 0.
The chances are low, but still there. Keep in mind that with Lasik surgery, the $400 per eye is a selling point, but it is often more than that, depending on various conditions including how terrible his eyesight is. You can usually sign-up for a lifetime warranty that means he can go back if his eyesight deteriorates (they usually schedule yearly exams to keep the warranty valid) and they will right whatever thing needed. My fiance had it done and it went fantastic for him, and his eyesight is really terrible, plus now he is at a much lower risk of getting a detached retina from his eyesight worsening, as opposed to getting stronger glasses and contacts each year.
Eyesight will change over time regardless of your age. Chance of vision being worse, and UNCORRECTABLE after laser surgery is 0.5%.
If he wants to take that chance, age 25 is fine.
Me, I opted out.

I knew a person who had it done and it went terrible. A lot depends on the person so there is no way to tell
it’s called lasik surgery, and it will probably go well. He should talk to his doctor about it first.
